Gator is pleased to offer this rare 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S.

Why so special?  In the 1980's the 944 was the entry-level offering from Porsche.  Porsche wanted to make a high-performance version, leading to the 944 Turbo, introduced in 1985, which boosted power from about 150 horsepower to 217 hp.

Then Porsche wanted to make an even higher-performance version. So, in 1988 Porsche created the 944 Turbo S, which sat at the top of the 944 lineup, with a 247-hp turbocharged version of the 944's 2.5-liter flat 4-cylinder. Some period magazines claimed the 944 Turbo S was faster than the 911 Turbo, and there was no doubt that it could haul: Published acceleration tests noted a 0-to-60 time of 5.5 seconds. That was quite impressive back in 1988, when a V8 Camaro was making ONLY 170 hp.

In 1989, the 944 lost its base-level Turbo variant, and the Turbo S became the standard Turbo, though without the upgraded suspension of the 1988 model. The result is that many 944 enthusiasts consider the 1988 944 Turbo S to be the best of the breed.  Worldwide, 1635 Turbo S cars (or "SE" in some markets) were produced in 1988.   Only 718 of those entered the US market.

This beautiful Alpine White example will bring you back to a time when this was truly one of the fastest cars on the road.  Even by today's standards, it's a fast, capable car.  It is also very well appointed.  Look at these features back from 1988:
